Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 25th, 2023 Presidential poll, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has consoled the Managing Editor (Northern Operations) of THE NATION Newspaper, Alhaji Yusuf Alli, over the death of his 89 year-old mother, Hajia Hawau Odee Yusuf.
Hajiya Hawau, popularly called 'Iya' by her family and community people in Ilorin, Kwara state, died peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2023. She was buried same Sunday, according to Islamic funeral tradition.
Tinubu, who is being expected be back to the country today (Monday, April 24, 2023) after 33 days of post-election vacation in Paris, France, said in a condolence message to Yusuf Alli's family, that the passage of Hajiya Hawau Odee Yusuf was "painful not only to her immediate family but to all who encountered her and felt her warmth and philanthropy" while she lived.
In the said statement by his office dated Monday, April 24, 2023 and signed by one Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Senator Bola Tinubu assured Yusuf Alli and his siblings of his sympathy and condolences over the passing of their mother.
Tinubu said: “I understand Hajiya Odee was a successful businesswoman who impacted many people. Hajiya Odee’s passing is therefore not only a loss to her six children and other members of her family. It is a loss to the community and by extension humanity in general. And that is the significance of a life well spent.
“She helped to nurture Alli and his siblings into very responsible and hardworking citizens as evidenced by their useful contributions in different spheres of life".
Tinubu however told Yusuf Alli who is also the President of the Rotary Club of Abuja, Maitama District, that: “My heart goes to the family at this moment. I pray for Almighty Allah to repose the soul of their departed matriarch".
Late Hajia Hawau Odee Yusuf's Fidau will hold on Saturday, April 29, 2023, in her community at Ilorin, Kwara state. NNL.
