The United Nations Office in Nigeria will on Thursday, January 22, 2026, launch the 2026 edition of the Nigeria Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) for Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) states.
A statement on Thursday January 15, 2026 by the UN Media Office headed by Ann Weru and signed by the Humanitarian Affairs Officer, Chima Onwe, said the event will bring together senior Government officials, including the Federal Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard M. Doro, civil society, national and international partners, members of the diplomatic corps and the media.
According to a media advisory of the event, the crisis in north-east Nigeria continues, driven by 16 years of armed conflict. In 2025, violence by non-state armed groups claimed approximately 4,000 civilian lives in just eight months and displaced thousands.
The launch of the 2026 HNRP underscores the need for coordinated action to save and protect lives through humanitarian action led by the Nigerian Government, supported by national organisations and international partners.
The event will hold between 9.00 am to 11 am at the UN House Auditorium in Abuja. NNL.
