The ongoing efforts against crime and criminality in Abia state is begining to yield fruits, as the State Police Command under it's Commissioner, Mr Danladi Is a, has made continuous strides in fulfilling its constitutional mandate.
A statement on Tuesday by the Command's Spokesperson, Barrister Maureen Chioma Chinaka, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said a press conference by the Police boss on Tuesday to give accounts of the anti-crime breakthroughs revealed that from 1st April 2026 to date, the Command has recorded numerous achievements through intelligence-led operations.
According to CP Danladi Isa, the Command recovered Ten (10) AK-47 rifles, Two (2) locally made pistols, Three (3) single-barrel guns, One (1) pump-action gun, Forty-four (44) rounds of live ammunition, and Three (3) vehicles recovered.
Other exhibits recovered include a wallet containing twelve thousand, six hundred and fifty naira, Two (2) phones, bundles of keys, one sack of gunpowder, seven (7) walkie-talkies, face masks, hand gloves, SIM cards, necklace, military cap and various charms. Eight (8) male suspects and one (1) female suspect were apprehended for various offences.

1.RECOVERY OF FIREARMS AND AMMUNITION
EXHIBITS:

According to the Commissioner, in line with a reported case of kidnapping at Opobo Road, Ogbor Hill, Aba, on March 29, 2026, the operatives of the Command, leveraging on actionable intelligence, traced the hideout of the kidnappers to Mbutu Amankwo Village in Isiala Ngwa LGA, Abia State.
Upon arrival at the kidnappers’ den, they were said to have fled into the bush while firing at the officers but could not withstand the superior firepower of the Command operatives. The above-mentioned exhibits were recovered, and three (3) kidnappers were neutralized during the operation. Investigation is ongoing.
- RECOVERY OF STOLEN VEHICLE/ARREST OF SUSPECTS
SUSPECTS: Nzeribe Favour Chinaza “male” 22 yrs Emmanuel Perpetual “female” 19 yrs
EXHIBIT: A stolen Toyota RAV4
Leveraging on actionable intelligence, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), on 11/04/2026, arrested Nzeribe Favour Chinaza “male” 22 yrs and Emmanuel Perpetual “female” 19 yrs in connection with a stolen Toyota RAV4, Reg No. BND177AE, Chassis No. JTMD33V276053327, ash colour.
The suspects are in custody and the stolen vehicle has been recovered. Investigation is ongoing.
- ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARMS / RECOVERY OF FIREARMS
SUSPECT: Chinedu Nnachi “male” 30 years old
EXHIBITS: Two (2) locally made pistols Five (5) live cartridges One (1) wristwatch One (1) wallet containing twelve thousand, six hundred and fifty naira (₦12,650) Two (2) rings Two (2) Airtel SIM cards Six (6) MTN SIM cards One (1) Ford vehicle key One (1) earpod One (1) necklace One (1) Tecno Spark phone One (1) Infinix phone One (1) bag One (1) military cap
Leveraging on actionable intelligence, operatives of Area Command Aba, in collaboration with members of the community, on 10/04/2026, apprehended Chinedu Nnachi “male” 30 years old and recovered the above-listed exhibits from him. Investigation is ongoing.
- ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR DEFILEMENT
SUSPECT: Ngumoha Ogechi “male” 63 years
Leveraging on actionable intelligence, operatives of Isiala-Ngwa Divisional Police Headquarters, on 14/04/2026, apprehended Ngumoha Ogechi “male” 63 years old, who allegedly abducted and defiled a 16 year-old girl, collected her parents’ ATM cards and withdrew approximately two hundred thousand naira (₦200,000). The matter will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
5 ARREST OF SUSPECTS FOR CONSPIRACY / UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF FIREARMS / RECOVERY OF FIREARMS
SUSPECTS: Chukwuka Ezenta “male” 38 yrs Ezekiel Nze “male” 38 yrs Chidera Obioha “male” 29 years old Chimcheta Obi “male” 33 yrs old
EXHIBITS: Two (2) AK-47 rifles with 17 rounds of 7.62x39 mm and 22 rounds of 5.56x45 mm ammunition
Leveraging on actionable intelligence, operatives of Isuochi Divisional Police Headquarters, on 04/04/2026, apprehended the above suspects and recovered the exhibits listed. Investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
- ARREST OF SUSPECT FOR DEFILEMENT
SUSPECT: Godstime Chinasa “male” 20 yrs old
Leveraging on actionable intelligence, operatives of Eastern Ngwa Divisional Police Headquarters arrested Godstime Chinasa “male” 20 yrs old, from Obingwa, who allegedly took a 15-year-old girl to a bush at Osa Ukwu and defiled her. Investigation is ongoing at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).
- RECOVERY OF STOLEN VEHICLE
EXHIBIT: Toyota Camry with Reg No. APP108DW
Leveraging on actionable intelligence, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) recovered a Toyota Camry with Reg No. APP108DW, which was stolen at Azigbo, Anambra State. Investigation is ongoing as efforts are in progress to apprehend the suspect(s).
