Facts have emerged that internal sabotage and allegations of bribery were the major reasons for the sudden sack of 20 Commissioners out of the 27 member cabinet Commissioners in Imo state on Wednesday, by governor Hope Uzodimma.
Commissioners who survived the purge, according to the Information Commissioner, Dr Emelumba, included those of Health, Information, Tourism, Women Affairs, Works, Finance, Youths, and Technology
About a month ago, the Imo governor had reshuffled his cabinet and appointed new commissioners for Finance and Health. The sacked Commissioners who were nominated on March 11, 2020, spent about 14 months in office and sworn in a week later.
Governor Uzodimma, at a special Executive Council session on Wednesday, thanked the sacked Commissioners for their services to the state, while wishing them well in their future endeavors. He assured that the state government might make use of worthy ones among them in other areas if they were not eventually re-appointed. NNL.
