Amidst conflicting positions about whether or not, the Covid-19 pandemic is currently abating in Nigeria, the Federal Government has ordered the immediate reopening of all schools in Nigeria.

Schools have been shut down since March this year as a result of the corona virus outbreak globally about six months ago in order to prevent its spread.

Minister of Education, Dr Adamu Adamu, announced the schools reopening during a press conference in Abuja.

While advising all schools to conform to the Covid-19 guidelines for the reopening of schools, he said all unity schools should open by October 12, 2020, “while states and private schools will determine their own modalities of reopening.”

Adamu however warned that government would deal decisively with any institution found not to be complying with the Covid-19 protocols, as according to him, inspectorate teams would be despatched to the schools to monitor the level of compliance with the Covid guidelines as stipulated by the NCDC.
