The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has accused the University of Abuja and other universities, of giving illegal admissions to candidates in total disregard of laid down processes of admission by JAMB to protect the interest of all Nigerians.
The laid down rule, according to JAMB, is that all admissions into all higher institutions in Nigeria must be approved and accepted by the Ministry of Education and captured on the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS). JAMB has however made it clear that this rule must be observed by tertiary institutions.
JAMB made this accusation in a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja by its spokesman and Head of Protocol, Dr. Fabian Benjamin. He said the University of Abuja and some unnamed tertiary schools were giving admissions not captured on CAPS to JAMB candidates.
The spokesman of the Board however stated that JAMB will not accept any of such illegal admission and would declare it null and void.
Dr. Benjamin also explained that the Examination Board has therefore advised candidates not to reckon with or accept any admissions outside the recommendations of CAPS from any Nigerian University or relevant institution of higher learning. NNL.
