A People's Democratic Party, (PDP), House of Representatives aspirant for Esan West, Esan Central and Igueben federal constituency of Edo State, Eng. Anslem Ejibor, on Monday, gave reasons why he jettisoned his ambition to work for the emergence of Peter Obi as the president of Nigeria in 2023.
Anslem Ejebor who spoke to Journalists in Lafia, said his decision to dump his ambition and work for Peter Obi of the Labour party is born out of his conviction that the emergence of Peter Obi would strengthen the Nation's economy, ensure unity, reduce insecurity and correct the high level of nepotism and corruption.
He said, āI pledge to ensure victory by the grace of God to the presidential candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi, at the general elections.
" The 2023 general elections should not be anchored on party affiliation, but on the capacity and capability of a candidate that would strengthen the damaged economy and have the interest of the country at heart.
As a grassroots mobilizer, a politician of repute, I will not relent in mobilising and sensitisizing the people through different conventional, mainstream and other sources to Galvanize votes for Obi, a tested and trusted candidate who has developed his state when he was governor of Anambra state.ā.
Ejibor said there is no time for noise, play or dragging of feat for Peter Obi but for action, adding that sentiment should be set aside in other not to plunge the country into another leadership crisis, cause another set back in governance and sacrifice competence for midiocracy.
"The nation has gone through economic strangulation and devastation such that it cannot afford to vote a president who will cause the country another setback in 2023" , he stated.
According to him, Peter Obi has demonstrated enough capacity capability, integrity to govern Nigerians, and is ready to be accountable to Nigerians and develop economic road map for the country.
He advocated for a thorough examination of those 'parading' as presidential candidates, to determine their capability, suitability and state of mind to lead the country, adding that, "We must go into history to question their eligibility, sources of wealth and capability to manage the country.
"What the nation needed at this time of Economic crisis, insecurity and corruption, is an energetic president who will be able to address the prevailing security challenges, near economic collapse and political stability, and see the country competing with other countries of the world", Ijebor declared.
He called on Nigerians to vote wisely in 2023 to avert the possibility of the country being thrown into yet another Economic, insecurity, bad governance, corruption and insensitivity. NNL
