  • * Atiku, Wike Engage In 'Dollar/Naira War' To Al Influence Delegates
  • EFCC Operatives Invade Convention Venue

By Desmond Ukandu (Politics Editor, at the Convention Ground)

Presidential aspirant and Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, on Saturday evening, withdrew from the on-going Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary and instead, threw his political weight behind the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar.

Tambuwal's withdrawal came moments before the actual voting started for the election of the PDP flagbearer for the Presidential election scheduled to hold early next year, in 2023.

Meanwhile, voting has started in earnest at the convention amidst strict surveillance and monitoring of the exercise by the operatives of the nation's financial crime agency, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC officials appear to be monitoring the alleged movement and sharing of funds by aspirants to party delegates who will decide the fate of the presidential contestants.

However, the two formidable presidential combatants at the primary, Atiku Abubakar and Nyesom Wike are already in a rat race, deploying the arsenal of huge dollars and naira dole-outs to the delegates just to out-do each other and ultimately win the primary. NNL.
