Unsatisfied with the decision of the Federal High Court which ruled that Alhaji Haruna Sa'idu remained the authentic candidate for the Kebbi Central Senatorial seat, former governor of Kebbi state, Senator Adamu Aliero, has approached the Court of Appeal sitting in Sokoto to reverse the ruling.
By the virtue of the ruling, Senator Adamu Aliero stand no chance of contesting the 2023 general elections, if not reversed.
And to further prove his points, Senator Aliero through his Counsel, Mr Damian Dodo (SAN), approached the appellate court challenging the decision of Justice Babagana Ashigar of Federal High Court Birnin Kebbi on the grounds of substantive laws, right to fear hearing and breach of procedures
Recall that Justice Babagana Ashigar of Federal High Court Birnin Kebbi, on 27th September 2022, upheld the primary election that produced Alhaji Haruna Sa'idu as authentic senatorial candidate for the Kebbi central seat.
Giving his submission, Counsel to PDP, Michael Aondoakaa, SAN, argued that Aliero's emergence as substantive party candidate for the seat were internal party issues.
According to Aondoakaa, the PDP has to put it's house in order and work towards winning the coming elections in Kebbi state.
Responding however, counsel to Haruna Saidu, Mr Usman Sule SAN, argued that the Kebbi Federal High court decision was in order hence interdem with legal perspectives.
Sule further appealed to the Appellate Court to uphold the judgement of the Federal High Court judgement, hence Saidu' s emergence was through lawful primaries.
In his position, the Presiding Judge, Justice Habeeb Abiru, reserved the judgement date and assumed to communicate to the parties in due course. NNL.
