- * Also Accuses Him Of Anti-Party Behavior
By Christopher Enenche (Benue State Correspondent, in Makurdi)
As the crisis of confidence in the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gradually snowballs into a full-scale internal crisis, party forces obviously loyal to the embattled governor of Benue state, Samuel Ortom, have moved against the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, by suspending him from the party for alleged Anti-party activities.
Rising from its meeting this weekend, the Executive Committee of the PDP in Igyorov Ward, Gboko Local Government Area of Benue State, on Sunday announced the suspension of the National Chairman of the PDP, Senator (Dr) Iyorchia Ayu, for alleged conducts considered inimical to the political interest of the party.
Ayu's suspension was communicated by the committee through a letter dated March 24, 2023 and addressed to the PDP chairman in Benue State. The Benue PDP Executive Council said Ayu’s alleged anti-party activities along those of his allies within the party, contributed to the electoral misfortunes of the PDP in his ward and local government in the last gubernatorial election of Saturday, March 18, 2023, in Benue state.
The PDP also accused the National Chairman of defaulting in payment of his mandatory annual dues as stipulated by the PDP rule book (constitution). They also accused Senator Ayu of not voting during the governorship and State House of Assembly elections in Benue state.
The Benue PDP Executive therefore passed a vote of no confidence on National Chairman, claiming that most of Ayu's close allies actually supported and worked for the victory of APC which consequently made the PDP to record a poor showing especially in Igyorov Ward, Benue state. NNL.
