The Ekiti State electorates, on Saturday, voted overwhelmingly for the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Biodun Oyebanji, in the governorship election held at the weekend in the state.
Returning Officer for the June 18, 2022 Ekiti State gubernatorial election, Professor Oyebode Adebowale, declared Oyebanji winner of the poll with a total vote score of 187, 057 to defeat his major opponents, especially ex-governor Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) who came second with a total vote score of 82,211, and Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who also came third with 67,457 votes.
In the Ekiti governorship election which was adjudged relatively peaceful, a total of 16 (sixteen) registered political parties participated in the poll. And a total of 363,438 voters were accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the governorship election which voting started at about 8:30am on Saturday and ended at about 3:25pm in a hitch-free process.
Already, there are widespread jubilation in Ekiti State over the victory of APC's Biodun Oyebanji, who, following his victory, will replace the incumbent governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, in October this year as the new governor of Ekiti State. NNL.
