The All Progressive Congress (APC) House of Representatives member for Chanchaga Federal Constituency, Niger state, Hon Mohammad Umar Bago, has emerged winner in last Saturday's Governorship and House of Assembly election.
Umar Bago pulled 469, 896 votes to emerge winner. His closest rival, Liman Isah Kantigi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scored 387, 476 votes to emerge second position.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Collation for Nigeria state, Professor Clement Alawa, while announcing the results of the election at the state INEC headquarters, David Mark road, said Dr. Joshua Bawa of Labour Party (LP) came third with 3, 415 votes out of the 899, 488 accredited votes.
Professor Alawa also hinted that, out of 2, 698, 344 total registered voters, the NNPP got 3, 378 votes coming distance 4th after LP Joshua Bawa.
"I Professor Clement Alawa hereby certify that I am the Returning Officer of the Governorship and House of Assembly election contested on 18th March, 2023, in Niger state. I hereby declare the APC candidate, Mohammed Umar Bago as winner".
Professor Alawa did not mention number of Polling Units cancelled during the exercise which took place across the 25 Local Government Areas. NNL.
