A renowned chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Taraba State and who also serves as the chairman, governing board of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state, Irimiya Ezekiel Afukonyo, has said electronic transmission of election results will help in mitigating poll rigging in Nigeria.

Speaking to newsmen in his Wukari resident on Sunday in Wukari local government area of Taraba state, he stressed that manual voting is outdated, and electronic transmission offers 88% percent accuracy of the election results.

Afukonyo who is also a governorship aspirant asserts that "If this is appended into law, this will be the greatest thing that will happen to our democracy. People don't like straightforward routes. If this is done, definitely the electronic system can never lie, and it will Mitigate Rigging"

"It may have its loopholes, but it has been demonstrated in other parts of the world. Everywhere in the world now prefer this system. It is only here in Nigeria that we are complaining of our population".

"Some people want to cut corners. That's why they are trying all possible means to boycott this system so they can have their ways. I will be contesting for the upcoming election, and I want this system to be given a chance"

According to him, electronic transmission of election results will offer accurate data, and citizens from remote areas will come out to vote without fear of their vote being manipulated.

He added that the APC state congress was postponed because of security reasons which are for the good of many. NNL.
