Ebonyi state governor, Engr Dave Nweze Umahi, on Tuesday, received the governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, in his office who had come to formally present his certificate of return to Umahi and also to thank him for the support he had given to him to win the 2023 gubernatorial election held on Saturday, March 18.
Nwifuru visited governor Umahi who is also the Senator-elect for Ebonyi South Senatorial District in his office on Tuesday in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital.
He commended the governor-elect for what described as his good qualities and dependable character, pointing out that Nwifuru's victory at the poll was predicated on the principle love of equity, peace and love in Ebonyi State.
He enjoined the All Progressive Congress (APC) governor-elect to sufficiently appoint Ebonyi youths and capable women into his government when it is constituted after May 29 power handover.
According to Umahi, the youths of Ebonyi deserve to be given more opportunities to be part of the new government and to contribute their knowledge to governance. He canvassed, however, that the women should be given at least, 50 percent in government appointment.
While presenting his Certificate of Return to Governor Umahi, the governor-elect, Nwifuru, described the Governor as “the man that made all that happened to happen,” He hailed Governor Umahi for strong stand for equity and justice in the state.
“Your Excellency, I am here this afternoon to present to you the Certificate of Return issued to me by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on that fateful day made by the Lord, the 29th day of March, 2023, while you were away", Nwifuru stated. NNL.
