Hon. Yusuf Shitu Galambi of the ruling APC has emerged winner of the just concluded Gwaram Federal Constituency Bye- Election conducted by INEC jigawa state last Saturday. Galambi had earlier contested for the Jigawa North Central in 2019 but lost to Senator Sabo Muhammad Nakudu of Birnin kudu of the same ruling party, APC.
The elections which was held at 11 registration areas or Electoral Wards and 248 polling units with a total of 133,193 registered voters and with the participation of 10 different political parties, was conducted peacefully in all the wards without any political rancor.
INEC through its National Commissioner who was assigned from Abuja offices of the commission, Barr. Festus Okoye, had earlier informed journalists and observer's that the commission had deployed 1,111 Election Officials and 854 security officials who ensured the success of the poll.
In his post-election remarks, Hon. Yusuf Shitu Galambi, thanked all those who supported him and worked for his victory, and assured not to let them down in the cause of his civic responsibility as people's choice representative.
Consequently, the commission will commence the continuous voters Registration Exercise on the 28 of June 2021. The INEC voter Registration Portal will be deployed to enable registrants register online and thereafter go to the state or local government office of the commission to capture their biometrics and facials.
INEC also added that who want to transfer their registration from one state to another or from one local government to the other can make use of the commission's online portal. The Commission also said that those who have prior issues of accreditation or with damaged or defaced PVC's can also use the online portal to rectify any given challenges. NNL.
