As today's governorship and State Assembly elections kick-off, the Bauchi State Office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has distributed sensitive materials to the various LGAs in the State, according to the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Alhaji Mohammed B. Nura.
Besides, the Commission assured the residents of the state of timely distributions of material items across all the 20 LGAs headquarters for today's Saturday's elections.
The Bauchi Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), gave the assurance during distributions of the sensitive materials at the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in Bauchi, saying that officials of the commission have distributed sensitive materials in the custody of the CBN to the various 20 LGAs across the State.
He noted that last time the Commission had distributed the items on Thursday and they reached the local government headquarters on the Thursday same day, where they have Friday and Saturday morning of this election to escalate to the polling units.
According to the REC, the main reason for this early commencement of the distributions exercise of the materials is to have enough time to see if there is any shortfall in the items and for us to know how we can report to the headquarters for early replacement of the remaining shortfall items before today's exercise.
He explained that the other time the items were distributed at the INEC office, but this time the Commission decided to do the exercise here at CBN because the quantity of the items is not much like that of the Presidential elections.
The REC also assured the Bauchi electorates that the Commission would ensure a free, fair and credible elections which will be accepted by everyone.
The exercise witnessed the presence of the State Police Commissioner, CP Aminu Alhassan as well as other top security heads.
In an interview with some of the stakeholders comprising of party agents, securities, as well as elections observers during the distributions of the items, they expressed satisfaction and confidence with the overall process.
