Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has said there are sufficient indications that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and clinch the Presidency of Nigeria in 2023.
Gov Fintiri made this electoral projection in Yola, Adamawa State capital while inaugurating the 21 LGAs Transition Committee Chairmen. He said all PDP Governors are working hard with other like-minded politicians in the All Progressive Congress Party (APC) to see that PDP returned to power in 2023 "to stabilize the polity and reduce the cost of food for the common man and bring down insecurity in the country".
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri pointed out that he was hopeful that other Nigerians will join the PDP Governors to "ensure that foreign rice returns at the cost of at least N12,000 only per bag, instead of almost N30,000 it cost today". He said the PDP is worried about the current rising cost of foodstuffs which has consequently made life difficult for the common man and increased his struggles and challenges.
The governor also stated that the health challenges of the people have further been worsened as a result of the high cost of foodstuffs, insecurity and rise in the currency exchange rate. He, therefore, assured that the PDP Governor is working to ensure that the PDP returns to power in Aso Villa in 2023 and that also the US dollar exchange rate with the Naija is between N200 and N250 to the dollar.
However, a mammoth crowd of PDP supporters gathered at the Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, the venue of the inauguration ceremony. The event was attended by party bigwigs and supporters in Adamawa state.
In a vote of thanks at the occasion, the Chairman of Yola South LGA, Prof Abba Tahir, who is also the ALGON Chairman for the 21 LGAs in Adamawa state, said the people will ever remain grateful to the Adamawa State Governor for selecting people who are qualified with a huge wealth of experience to turn the lives of the people for the better at the LGAs level.
Abba Tahir who is also the 'Kakaaki Adamawa', however, said the people of the state will soon begin to feel the impact of governance, as the new Transition Committees Chairmen were abreast with the challenges facing the people in terms of security, high cost of foodstuffs and banditry operations going on in the Adamawa State.
He also stated that they will work with the State Government to cushion the pains of the downtrodden people of the State. Professor Tahir also called on Adamawa people to support Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri so as to give the citizens of the state a blissful life. NNL.
