- * Promises To Attend Chekwas Okorie's Book Launch On APGA, Igbo Question

President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan, has counseled the Igbos of South East Nigeria on the need to eschew all forms of violent agitation and embrace the political process as a way of solving their problems.
Lawan gave the advice in Abuja when he hosted in his National Assembly office on Tuesday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chieftain, Chekwas Okorie, who was the founding National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) governing Anambra state.
Okorie was a guest of the Senate President whom he went to the National Assembly to invite to the launching of his new book titled: 'APGA and the Igbo Question', a book chronicling the history of the formation of the party
Senator Lawan said: “I am of the view that violent agitation or angry protests have never solved problems anywhere in the world,” Senate President said. I am happy that you took the time to emphasize the importance of the political process in addressing the Igbo question The book APGA and the Igbo Question is coming at a very auspicious time in Nigeria’s democratic evolution".
Lawan who accepted the invitation to grace the book launch as a Special Guest of honor, however, assured Okorie that he would be present at the occasion. He praised the effort of the author to tell APGA's story through a book.
The meeting was equally graced by both the Majority Leader of the Senate, Senator Yahaya Abubakar Abdullahi, and the Senate's Chief Whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
Chekwas Okorie however explained to the Senate President that beyond talking about the story of APGA, the book also attempted to deal with the Igbo question in Nigeria’s political environment.
However, at another meeting with the Chief Whip of the Senate, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, in his office, he commended Chief Chekwas Okorie for being ‘ever ready to serve Ndigbo. Kalu said he will be vying for the position of President of Nigeria in the upcoming 2023 general elections, ostensibly to correct the apparent injustices Ndigbo have suffered in Nigeria.
Kalu stated that he remains "...the best hope" for Ndigbo as far as the quest for president by the zone in 2023 was concerned. The former Abia state governor expressed great confidence that he will win his party's (APC) nomination at the coming party primary.
“I am the best hope for Ndigbo getting the presidency in 2023. I left successful businesses I nurtured from infancy to continue serving Ndigbo and indeed Nigerians.”
According to the book author, Chief Chekwas Okorie, the public presentation of the book, 'APGA and the Igbo Question', will be done at the Sheraton Hotel, Abuja on Thursday, April 28th, 2022. NNL.
