The chairman of the People's Redemption Party (PRP) in Taraba state, Mr. Abdullahi Maikasuwa, on Tuesday, refuted allegations of corruption leveled against him by some members of the party and his consequent suspension as chairman of the party in Taraba state.
The chairman spoke during the occasion of presentation of certificate of return to candidates vying for various offices in the party.
Maikasuwa said, those trying to paint him black were only out to destroy the party's chances of possible victory in the coming election.
According to him, those behind the allegations were being financed by both the PDP and APC who feels threatened, having seen that the waves of victory were favouring the PRP in Taraba.
In his words, he asserts that "I want to make it clear to you that l am not suspended, and I do no have corruption elements in me.
"I have never displayed any act of corruption or any act that is contrary to the provisions of our party's Constitution. The national Secretariat of our party is headed by people of intergrity and would not accommodate any corrupt practice from any one.
"I am a man with no questionable character. Those behind the false allegations against me are being sponsored by both PDP and APC to destroy the super waves been established by our party for possible victory. Both the PDP and APC are feeling threatened by the kind of support we are gaining by the day ahead of the election, and that is why have succeeded in injecting into some of our members the virus to destroy our waves ahead of the election.
"I wish to however call on every member of the party to throw behind whatever ill-feelings they may be having against me and join me to deliver the party in all positions", the chairman stated.
Earlier, Hajia Rekiya Sani, the PRP national woman leader, encouraged party members to explore all possible ways without the inclusion of violent acts to ensure victory for the party both at the national and in Taraba state. She also advised members to embrace unity for the purpose and development of the party in Taraba state.
Meanwhile, Hon. Mansur Babanyaya, pledge his continued loyalty to the party for the interest and development of Taraba State. NNL.
