Nigeria's former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo,has described the kind of President he wants for Nigeria in 2023.
Obasanjo who breezed into Minna, Niger state capital, at the weekend where he met behind closed door with the former Military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd), said such brand new president must be ready to work towards solving the numerous challenges bedevilling the country and her citizenry.
Obasanjo also said that the only criteria he expects from whoever will be the next President and who he will stand by, is that he must have a national outlook in solving the myriads of problems facing Nigeria.
He said he has no preferred candidate to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari next year. The former President who has been rumoured to be supporting former Governor Peter Obi of Labour Party, however told journalists that what he is doing is a national agenda, adding that, “I don't have a special candidate, I have a national agenda”.
According to him, “I have come to see my brother who was a bit indisposed and when he was abroad I had wanted to visit him, and the day I arrived in London to visit him that was the same day he left London.
“So I said, well since I could not see him while he was in London, I will come to see him when he is back in Nigeria. And so, that is what I have come to do”, the former President further hinted.
Obasanjo after a closed door meeting that lasted fir over 30 minutes said, “My brother is special in a way and he was indisposed, so I had to come and see him. If there is anybody again who is special and indisposed that I have to see, I will see him. I am still strong enough”, he disclosed. NNL.
