Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has told Journalists in Lafia, the state capital, that Dangote Sugar Factory would commence sugar production as soon as the establishment of the factory was completed in the state.
Speaking during an interactive session on Tuesday with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Nassarawa Chapter NUJ in Lafia, governor Sule explained that Dangote technical team for the establishment of the sugar factory were already in the stat to commence work on the sugar factory..
He said, “I want to inform you that a team from Dangote are in the state today (Tuesday, July 5, 2022) for the commencement of the sugar factory in Nassarawa state. The process for the production of sugar takes time. Cultivation of 68,000 acquired hectares of land for the sugar cane cultivation was a gradual process that could take between three to four years", governor Sule stated .
“What you need to do is to start with 100 hectares. If the location is good for the production of sugar cane, then you will expand the production from 100 hectares to 1,000 hectares to 10,000 hectares", he stated.
Governor Sule appreciated members of the association for being up and doing in publicising government activities in the state and called for its sustenance.
While urging the people of the state to continue to show understanding with the Dangote group, he boasted that he had executed and still executing projects that has direct bearing on the lives of the people of the state.
Earlier, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Ibrahim Addra, had commended Governor Sule for being Media friendly as well as members of the Correspondent Chapel for partnering the state government in its activities in the state
On his remarks, Chairman of the Chapel, Isaac Ukpoju, told the governor that they were at the Government House to familiarize with the governor and seek for his partnership with the government to carry out their statutory duties of reporting the state and it's development
The chapel chairman while commending the governor for his inclusive administration, called for the sustenance of the relationship as well as appealed for a bus to enable the chapel serve the state better. NNL.
