In a major step forward towards the changing of the course of the Covid-19 pandemic globally, Ghana, on Wednesday, receives the first doses of the Covid-19 AstraZeneca vaccine which have been delivered to this West African country through COVAX.
Chief Executive Officer at AstraZeneca, Pascal Soriot, said he was delighted that the first doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine have been delivered to Ghana today through COVAX. Soriot stated that from the start, "we have committed to making our vaccine available to as many countries as possible and at no profit during the pandemic because no-one is safe until everyone is safe".
He revealed that this delivery is the first of many shipments of the AstraZeneca vaccine expected over the coming weeks and months via COVAX that will "take us closer to ensuring broad and equitable access", Soriot said. NNL.
