Residents of Agaie town, Agaie Local Government Area of Niger state have been gripped with fear following brutal attack on a Point Of Sale (POS) operator, Ndagi Bello.
Ndagi, according to findings was ambushed by unknown assailants as he attempted to deliver ₦2 million in cash to a client along the Etsu- Agaie road, in isolated location that is kilometres away from Agaie town.
The POS operator, according to sources from the area had received a phone call from an unknown client requesting N2 million cash to be delivered to a remote location in the area.
Not suspecting anything, Ndagi Bello quickly put the money together and headed towards the location, but unknown to him that he was being lured into what would have caused his life and fortune.
Ndagi who escaped death by the whiskers it was learnt was almost getting to the agreed spot when he was accosted by some young men wielding machetes and cudgel which they used in attacking him.
Unfortunately, Ndagi lost his cash and other valuables to the assailants who overpowered him and snatched his money after inflicting deep cuts on his hands as he struggled to defend himself.
The victim who suffered no life threatening injuries was later rushed to the Agaie General hospital where he is receiving medical attention.
Though the incident was not confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger state Command, Daily Independent findings revealed that police in the apea have staged manhunt for the criminals.
“Thank God for sparing the life of Ndagi from the criminals, he is responding to treatment", a source who craved anonymity said.
The source also hinted that the matter was reported to the Agaie Police Division, and that full investigation have been mounted to track those behind the attack. NNL.
