President Muhammadu Buhari is set to commission some of the infrastructural projects executed so far by the administration of Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni.
The Director General, Press and Media Affairs to the Yobe governor, Mamman Mohammed, made the disclosure in a statement when he received officials of GSM traders and technicians association during a courtesy call on the DG.
According to Mohammed, the President will commission some schools, the gigantic Maternal and Child Healthcare Complex built at the State Teaching Hospital in Damaturu by governor Buni administration and the Yobe State Cargo Airport. He explained that the fully completed infrastructural facilities are ready for commissioning and that the state government will soon name a date for the project's commissioning.
The Director General also stated that governor Buni administration has made great effort in tackling unemployment in Yobe state through his economic empowerment measures for the citizens in the state, especially the members of the state's young population. He revealed that over 300,000 youth in the state are going to be the beneficiaries of the empowerment programme of the governor.
Mohammed pointed out that the state “Ministry of Wealth Creation and Empowerment established to provide the youth with employment opportunities is making adequate provisions for the empowerment”.
The DG further disclosed that governor Mai Mala Buni has assured the citizens of Yobe state that the commissioning of the completed projects by President Buhari would enhance economic empowerment program which will give the people value chain benefits. He informed the GSM traders and their technical service providers that the state government will allocate shops to them in each of the modern markets in addition to advanced technical knowhow.
The association received a vehicle donation (bus) from governor Buni including 10 shops at the newly commissioned Ahmad Lawan Modern Market in Gashua. Governor, the DG said, charged the GSM traders group to partner with the Yobe State Ministry of Wealth Creation and the Yobe Information Technology Development Agency (YITDA) on how to ensure success of their business.
He said: “We have a young and vibrant Director-General heading YITDA who will support you in training and other technical skills to fast track your technical expertise to expand your trade”.
Alhaji Malam Ali who led the group, however expressed the appreciation of the GSM trader's association to governor Mala Buni for his goodwill and also praised him for the support he gave to the association.
Ali said: “Your goodwill has supported us to expand our businesses. Our members benefited from loan facilities which were later written off, for us to expand and grow. We remain grateful and appreciative of all your laudable efforts. The support has provided us with a trade and integrity and has sanitized the system for us to be respected by society”. NNL.
