The daughter of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Dr. Fatima, has denied the purported revalidation of her membership of the All Progressive Congress APC in Jada, her Local Government Area, in Adamawa.
Fatima who was a commissioner for Health in Adamawa State said the signature which was appended on the APC revalidation form in her name is false. She wondered who signed a statement in that regard, saying that she has not visited Jada or Yola for a long time now because of engagement in private practice since she left office. She served in the administration of former Governor Mohammadu Umaru Jibriala. Fatima however refuted a media report that she has revalidated her membership of APC in Jada, her home LGA.
In a press statement through her father's spokesman, Paul Ibe, which was made available to Journalists, Fatima Atiku Abubakar denied knowledge of any APC revalidation exercise taking place, not to talk of her to travel from Abuja to Jada to revalidate. She however maintained that the report was baseless and unfounded and called on the public to disregards such media reports.
The former commissioner said, "I did not revalidate my membership of APC, contrary to media reports". She pointed out that, "In 2015 when I was appointed as Commissioner of Health in Adamawa State, I had to join the ruling party in my state. It was a requirement for the opportunity to serve", she said, adding that "Since the conclusion of my duty tour as Commissioner, I am now into private practice, with no affiliation to any political party.
"I was, however, taken aback to read of my purported revalidation of APC membership. For the avoidance of doubt, I did not revalidate any membership of APC. Indeed, I have been in Abuja, never traveled to Jada where the purported revalidation was said to have been made", Dr. Fatima Atiku Abubakar stated. NNL.
