Ahead of the gubernatorial and state house of assembly elections on Saturday 18th March, the gubernatorial candidates of 15 political parties have signed a peace accord document for a free, fair and credible elections in the State.

Top among the parties include the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressive Congress (APC), New Nigeria People's Party (NNPP), People Redemption Party (PRP), African Democratic Party (ADC), Labour Party (LP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) respectively.

Addressing journalists shortly after signing the document at the State Police Command Headquarters in Bauchi, the incumbent governor, Senator Bala Mohammed of PDP, Senator Halliru Dauda Jika of NNPP, APC's deputy governorship candidate, Shehu Aliyu Musa, Barrister Faruk Umar Gwadabe of PRP and all other contestant candidates, pledged to abide by the peace accord agreement for free violence and credible exercise before, during and after the elections in the State.

In his speech, the Bauchi State Police Commissioner, Aminu Alhassan, commended the political parties that honoured their invitation by coming in person to the meeting. He said the main reason for the meeting was for all political parties to come together and affix their signature on the document to ensure a free, fair, credible and peaceful polls that will be accepted by all citizens in the State.

The Bauchi Police boss however warned parents to caution their wards to desist from any form of political violence before, during and after the elections, adding that the Command would not spare any individuals, group of persons or parties involved in electoral misconduct, as according to him, his Command will deal with such offenders according to the electoral laws.

He said any political party and their supporters who were found involved in such acts would be dealt with accordingly in line with the agreement by all the political parties present.

The meeting also witnessed the presence of all security agencies comprising the army, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, Immigration, and Customs respectively. NNL.
