Group of Journalists from Bauchi state have advocated for women inclusion in federal, state and local government's empowerment programmes with a view to make them self reliant as well as entrepreneurs.
Besides that, they canvass that women should be equally incorporated into many government palliative programmes across the 36 states including the FCT to uplifts their lives and living standards.
The call was contained in a recommendations at the end of a 2-day retreat organised by UNICEF and Mama2Mama on women health reporting to mark the 2024 international women's day in Gombe state.
The journalists said "empowering a woman is like you empowered the whole world, hence the need for the government to take urgent steps towards addressing the lapses.
"Government should also intensify more effort by ensuring that the women got the necessary knowledge they deserved on health related issues. This will go a long way to improve their family lives as well as reduce the rate of childbirth during delivery.
He seeks for the engagement of Mama2Mama support groups women volunteer's who were working tirelessly by going for house to house campaign sensitization, education and teaching intreprenueship to the women's into the primary healthcare development agency in the state.
"Urges husbands to discourage their wife's from home delivery and encourage hospital, facility's and clinics delivery to avoid issues like childbirth, eclampsia issues during delivery by unprofessional birth attendance. NNL.
