Governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) party in the Saturday November 6, 2021 gubernatorial election in Anambra state, Chief Ben Etiaba, has said that women and youths in Anambra state will definitely play a tremendous role in the formation of his government, policies and programmes, if he wins the forthcoming governorship election.
Etiaba who resigned his membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) last week Thursday and joined the Action Alliance party on Saturday as its gubernatorial flagbearer for the Anambra poll, promised that he would partner with the youths and women of Anambra State.
"Women will have 50 per cent of appointments in our government. We will partner with the youths and share government with them in the ratio of 50-50", Etiaba assured.
The governorship hopeful who was a former chairman of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria in the United Kingdom District Societies, however, assured Ndi Anambra that if elected governor in November 6 and subsequently sworn in, he would make it one of his priority to complete all abandoned infrastructural projects in the state.
Etiaba also frowned at the current practice of state governors hijacking security votes and diverting the funds for private and sundry purposes. He also deplored the existing political practice of Godfathers desperately seeking to install their political Godsons in public office, saying that such development does not help the course of transparency and accountability in public governance. He insisted that he actually does not need a Godfather in his governorship bid.
"The electorate of Anambra state are my political Godfathers. I do not need one overbearing individual as Godfather to win the election. Only God Almighty and the people of Anambra can make me governor", Etiaba reasoned.
The former Chairman of Enugu Sports Club also paid a glowing tribute to his mother, Dame Virgy Etiaba, who was a former deputy governor of Anambra state and later became the first female governor of the state on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA).
Etiaba said during his declaration for Action Alliance party at the weekend, that he was in the race having received the blessings of his beloved mother, Dame Virgy Etiaba. NNL.
