About 168 Councillors representing various wards in Taraba state have passed a vote of confidence on the state governor, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku, for what they consider as his "excellence performance" .
The councillors under the aegies of Taraba State Councilors Forum, converged at the DDI Rescue House in Jalingo on Monday September 13, 2021, where they unanimously passed the vote of confidence on the governor owing to what they believe were his antecedent and achievements in the state.
The Leader of Jalingo local government Council who is also the Chairman of the state councillors forum Hon. Umar .D. Usman, and who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, said governor Darius Ishaku has justified the mandate given to him by Tarabans, having executed and commissioned laudable projects that has direct bearing on the lives of the people who he said are impressed with him.
He further stated that as councillors who are representing the people at the grassroots level, they deem it fit to commend and celebrate governor Ishaku, fondly called 'DDI', for having touched the lives of the common people in the state down to their wards, hence the need for them to pass vote of confidence on him.
His words: " We the councillors in Taraba state have no choice than to pass a vote of confidence on the Governor whose Mantra is on Peace and Rescue Mission. Governor Ishaku has proven to all that he came to rescue the state from its previous setback to positive transformation with all the project's he has carried out so far.
"Such projects are the 18km dual carriage road/Flyover bridge, the gigantic 5000 litres water tank project on-going at Mount-Jalingo to cater for Jalingo metropolis; his empowerment and equipping of over 10,000 Youths and Women among so many other projects in the state.
"All these and more, have necessitated our gathering here today (Friday September 10, 2021) in order to brandish him to the world in this occasion as a super performer. Governor Ishaku is our boss. He can best be described as a promise-keeping governor who has kept and fulfilled his campaign promises".
Our correspondent reports that the councillors used the occasion to appreciate the Governor for extending their tenure for three (3) more years.
While moving the motion for the vote of confidence, Hon. Tukur Isa Yerima, Majority Leader of Jalingo local government council, said having been convinced by the achievements of the governor already listed out by their Leader, he was therefore moving the motion for the passage of the vote of confidence on the governor. The motion was there after seconded by the Leader of Donga local government council.
While commending the action of the Councillors, the Taraba State PDP Publicly Secretary who is also the Director General of the DDI Rescue House, Mr. Andeta'rang Irammae, described local council lawmakers as purposeful and pragmatic leaders who are sensitive and appreciative enough to come out publicly to celebrate their governor. He described their move as a wise one.
In her vote of thanks, Hon. Faty Hassan, the Director Women Affairs of the DDI Rescue House, thanked the councillors for their initiative. She also appreciated them for rallying round governor Ishaku, adding that they have also been supportive to their various council Chairmen.
She however described their relationship as cordial as there have never been any record of rancour among them. She enjoined them to remain focused and united against all odds. Fati Hassan also assured them that the DDI Rescue House will always be there for them at the grassroots. NNL.
