The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has said that Taraba under the leadership of Arc. Darius Dickson Ishaku has moved from an intensive care unit to a mortuary unit, and about to be buried, if not rescued.
In a press briefing by the party's Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Aaron Artimas, he stated that the briefing by the state government through the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Solomon Elisha, is a desperate move to shift its 'odorous shame' elsewhere.
Recall, that the Taraba State Government had accused some federal lawmarkers from Southern Taraba of appropriating and passing off federal government projects in the state as individual achievements. The opposition party in the state, APC, said it is the responsibility of the nation's financial crimes commission, the EFCC, to detect the financial fraud involved in such claims and not the Taraba state government.
According to Artimas, "Taraba government is now obsessed with the ideas of attacking of Senators representing Taraba. The state government, through its commissioner of budget and planning, had accused federal lawmakers of poor implementation of national projects, although they cowardly failed to mention the senator's name. The project mentioned by the commissioner was lobbied by senator Emmanuel Bwacha and is fully implemented in the state.
"Those conversant with Taraba's mortifying situation are aware that the state has since moved from intensive care unit to the mortuary, and to divert the attention of the people from his horrifying spectacle, he wants to shift blame," he said.
Artimas further lamented the worsening conditions of the state, by pointing out that local government councils have been closed down for more than two years, while their activities have been transferred to the State Bureau for Local Government. He said that some local government workers and teachers have not been paid salaries for eight months, and with no visible prospects of payment.
Artimas added that Sen. Bwacha is not the cause of lack of development in Taraba state, and that Taraba since it's inception now have a debt ratio of over 200 billion naira with no visible project.
The opposition party, APC, also pointed out what it described as the most disturbing spectacle of governor Darius Ishaku regime, accusing his government of cruelty and imposition of overdraft. He stated that the "FAAC shared N954 billions to it's three tiers of government, which means more than 10 billion had accrued to the state and local governments but yet everything seems to fall into a bottomless pit of mindless corruption".
