The Bauchi state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has condemned, in strongest terms, the actions of Wikki Tourist Supporters after last Sundays 2 - 1 home lost to visiting Bayelsa united.
Besides that SWAN is also calling on the Government of Bauchi state, to, as a matter of urgency, launch an investigation into the management of Wikki Tourist Football Club.
Their call was contained in a letter jointly signed by its chairman and secretary, Mahmud Yakubu Mohammed and Bala Bawaji and made available to newsmen in Bauchi State.
It noted that the alleged unruly behavior of the fans is completely against the spirit of sportsmanship and sports development, hence the need to bring the alleged soccer hooligans to book.
According to the SWAN, as a critical stakeholder in sports development, it has noticed the deteriorating condition in the managerial systems of the club, which it said, is adversely affecting the club's activities, both on and off the pitch.
Worthy to note, is that the club is currently in the relegation zone, on 9th position with 12 points from 13 games in group B of the abridged Nigeria Premier Football League.
SWAN is therefore advocating for a COMMITTEE of INQUIRY to be setup to investigate every activity of the current management of Wikki Tourist, from it's inception to date, especially contracts of players and technical crew. NNL.
