The Nigeria Police Force, in its on-going efforts to combat crime and criminality and curb the proliferation of illegal weapons in the country, has recorded several notable breakthroughs in the past 2 months.
At least, 346 persons have been reportedly killed within three months in eight Local Government Areas in Plateau State, a human rights organisations, Gideon and Funmi Para-Mallam Peace Foundation, has said.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (NAIA), Abuja, have arrested a 19-year-old student, Benjamin Nnamani Daberechi, for attempting to export 7.2 kilograms of methamphetamine concealed in crayfish to Europe where he was going for undergraduate studies.

Barely 24 hours after the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd) directed all commands and formations of the Agency to begin an immediate clampdown on illegal sale and use of nitrous oxide, otherwise known as laughing gas following its abuse by people who use it for recreational purposes, operatives have intercepted over 64, 863.5 kilogram consignments of the gaseous substance at the Apapa seaport in Lagos and in Imo state.
