Nigerians have been urged to rise above ethnic and regional considerations and elect leaders based on competence, integrity and vision as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.

The call came amid increasing political consultations and alignments across the country, with stakeholders warning that identity politics could further divide the nation and undermine democratic progress.

Speaking on the nation's political outlook, a public affairs analyst, Malam Jibrin Adamu stressed that leadership should be determined by a candidate's ability to tackle pressing national challenges, including insecurity, unemployment, economic hardship and poor governance, rather than ethnic or regional affiliations.

He argued that Nigeria's future depends on leaders with proven capacity to deliver inclusive governance, promote accountability and drive sustainable development.

Jibrin Adamu also encouraged voters to critically assess candidates' track records and policy proposals, insisting that informed electoral choices would strengthen democracy and improve governance.

The political analyst who doubled as Bauchi State Ex-Lawmaker further appealed to political parties and supporters to conduct peaceful, issue-based campaigns capable of fostering national unity and political stability ahead of the 2027 polls. NNL.
