No fewer than six people have been slaughtered while several others receive various forms of injuries as fresh attacks erupts between Fulani herders and Kamuku farmers in Tashan-Rimi, closed to Godoro village in Rafi Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger state.
The recent attack Tuesday night is coming against the backdrop of planned intervention by Niger state government and Local Government authorities with the aim of bringing lasting peace in the area.
The horrifying scene is part of reprisal attacks from one of the feuding communities which had continued despite assurances of measures to be put in place by the state government, Rafi Local Government and as well the Emirate council to broker peace between the two feuding communities.
Sources from the area indicates that Niger state government's promises to intervene ended up as mere words of promise but not backed up with action hence the renewed hostilities which led to the killing and dismembering of the victims by the assailants.
A committee was set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Fulani-Kamuku clashes, our correspondent reliably gathered that the committee which are more of words and paper works never put in place any order to halt breach of peace and to avoid possible escalation of killings in the affected communities.
Meanwhile, the Village Head of Tashan-Rimi, Alhaji Garba Mohammed Bissalla, who confirmed renewed hostilities in a telephone interview, said six of his subjects were killed by the Fulani harders during the Tuesday midnight attacks.
While a man, Musa Bahago, his son Hamisu Musa and others are nursing various degrees of wounds after the Tuesday attacks, another victim, Alhaji Garba Bissalla expressed deep shock over renewed attacks by the Fulani herders despite his people waiting for government to act according to promises.
As the leadership of Kamuku continue to obey directives for Governor Mohammed Umar Bago who has been preaching peace to the feuding parties to sheath their swords and give room for peaceful resolution of the crisis, the Fulanis on their part have continued to threaten, kill and steal their domestic animals.
Alhaji Bissalla lamented that the federal, Niger state and the LGA authorities have abandoned Kamuku people to their faith and at the mercy of the Fulani herders who have been a thorn in their flesh for years now.
Despite unfulfilled promises by past administration, Bissala also hinted that for the past 20 years Kamuku people who are predominantly farmers have not benefited from any social amenities.
While attributing recent attacks to earlier clash that claimed the lives of over one hundred and six families with one extended family alone losing fourty five members, the community's leader is pleading on the relevant authorities for urgent intervention.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Niger state Command, SP Wasiu A. Abiodun said, "On 23rd September 2026 at about 12pm, report received from Kagara indicated that on same date at about 1.30am suspected armed men invaded Godoro, Angwan-Bisala communities under Katako District and four persons lost their lives, while two others sustained serious injuries during the attack".
Abiodun said the Police visited the scene, took the injured victims to hospital while investigations into the incident is ongoing. NNL.
