Enugu state governor, Peter Mbah, on Sunday, paid a courtesy visit to elder statesman, Chief Jim Nwobodo, at his country home in Amechi Awkunanaw, Enugu South Local Government Area, where he witnessed the commissioning of a new Obi.

Chief Nwobodo, a former Governor of the old Anambra State, former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and former Senator representing Enugu East Senatorial District, thanked Governor Mbah for the visit, describing it as a gesture of respect that reflects the governor’s leadership style, and praised his transformative governance.

Governor Mbah said the occasion reinforced the importance of honouring legacy and elders, noting that Chief Nwobodo’s lifetime of service helped lay enduring foundations for governance, culture, and political leadership in Enugu State and beyond.

Dignitaries in attendance were the Commissioner for Local Government, Deacon Okey Ogbodo; the Chairman of Enugu South LGA, Hon. Caleb Ani; his Enugu East and Awgu counterparts; Pastor Dan Anike and Hon. Uchenna Okolo, respectively; the Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council and traditional ruler of Edem Ani in Nsukka LGA, His Royal Majesty Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu; as well as the traditional ruler of Omuoha-Obuofia in Nkanu West LGA, His Royal Majesty Igwe Obiora Igwesi, among others.
