A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Taraba State, Chief David Sabo Kente (DSK), has declared his commitment to rescuing the state from its present woes if elected as governor in 2023.
Speaking in Jalingo the state capital when he formally declared his intention to run for the number one seat in the state, he said the present administration of the ruling Peoples Congress (PDP) in Taraba has mismanaged the which was the reason for his entry in the race with a master plan to rescue the state from those who think they're the 'rescue team'.
He stated that: "Taraba State is so devastated and mismanaged now that we're not thinking of any zoning now. We need somebody to rescue the rescuers. We have a rescue team, and we need a rescuer to rescue them. Things are so bad that you just need to close your eyes and forget about zoning and allow someone with capability and competence to come and put Taraba State together and draw up a road map that will lead to the economic success and progress of the state".
He also said he wouldn't like to disclose his plans so that "the opposition will not steal his ideas of development". He promises to transform Taraba State if given the chance at the poll.
According to him, "I'm an accountant by profession, a businessman with several years of experience. I have worked close to 30 years in service, and so, I understand the economy to a very big extent. I wouldn't like my opponent to steal my ideas now, so I will not disclose some or bring out the economic problem in the state that I intend to fix.
"But I will tell you that Taraba is a viable state, and there are many things we can do to develop the state. Take, for example, let me just give you one out of many even though I don't intend to say anything but let me tell you this.
"There's what we called double strings in education. It is a system where you use one facility to train two times the number of people you are training. Taraba will introduce that in my administration, we are going to have morning and evening school. Numbers of classrooms we have now if they are training 40, we will now be training 80 with the same numbers of classrooms, and what that means is that the school enrollment program will increase or double, and we would have reduced the numbers of out of school children, and also have opportunity to build more classes.
"Also, we would use that to employed more people. Don't you think that is exceptional". NNL.
