The Supreme Court of Nigeria, on Wednesday, nullified the governorship primary election of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Taraba state that produced Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as the candidate of the party.
An aggrieved aspirant, David Kente, had dragged the party and its candidate to court over the recognition of Bwacha as gubernatorial candidate of the APC
Delivering judgment on Wednesday, a five-member panel led by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, affirmed the verdict of the Federal High Court which held that the APC did not conduct any valid governorship primary in the state.
The court also ordered Bwacha to stop parading himself as the governorship candidate of the APC.
The Judge also told the APC to adhere strictly to the provisions of the new electoral act in the conduct of a fresh primary. The court also ordered that a new party primary election should be conducted in the next 12 days. NNL.
