As the 2027 general elections gathers momentum, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has urged politicians to be good role models to future leaders by not only exhibiting high level of discipline but play according to the rules of game for peaceful elections next year.
The Etsu Nupe equally advised parents and guardians to impact the right morals in their children/youths to avoid being used as tolls for self destruction by some desperate politicians who have no respects for the elderly and traditional institutions in the state.
The Etsu Nupe made the declaration when he granted audience to the Niger state African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship hopeful, Alhaji Mohammed Kpautagi, when he visited the Wadata palace to receive the royal father's blessings ahead of next year's governorship election.
Politicking without discipline, maturity and as well respect for the elders, the traditional ruler pointed out will only amount to creating gaps in the society, including heating up inter-party rivalries that will affect campaign activities.
Now that campaigns are on, parents and guardians should caution their wards to avoid being used as tolls for destroying their lives and the life of political opponents by playing supportive roles expected of them devoid of bloodletting.
While thanking Kpautagi for the visit, the Etsu Nupe who prayed that God directs and protects his guest and other aspirants at the national level as they continue with campaigns through the nooks and crannies of the state and across the country prayed God to give Nigeria leaders that will bring about peace.
The ADC governorship candidate, Mohammed Kpautagi who led high powered delegation to Wadata palace, Bida said they came to pay homage as the royal father celebrates his 74th Birthday and 23rd year on the throne as the Etsu Nupe.
Kpautagi who prayed God to grant the Etsu Nupe long life, peace and good health also attributed the visit to the respect and regards the ADC family have for Niger state traditional institutions particularly the number one traditional ruler in the state.
Kpautagi was accompanied on the visit by his Deputy hopeful, a former Commissioner, Mamman Musa, Suleiman Yusuf, also former Commissioner Water Resources, Vice Chairman of the party, Baka Isah and the Zonal Chairman Zone "A" Gimba Tswatagi. NNL.
