Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-Central geopolitical zone have resolved to mobilise massively for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general elections, with a target of delivering the highest number of votes for the President among the six geopolitical zones.

The resolution was reached at a planning meeting of the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement held at the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Abuja, on Friday, where political leaders from the zone also agreed to hold a grand rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Reading the resolutions of the meeting, National Chairman of the APC, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, said stakeholders from the six North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory had unanimously committed themselves to mobilising their members and supporters for President Tinubu.

“We agreed that overwhelmingly, the North Central would mobilize votes and will overwhelmingly support Mr. President as our Candidate in the 2027 general elections”, he said.

According to the APC National Chairman, the October 10 rally will draw party members and supporters from the six states and the FCT as a demonstration of the zone’s support for the President and his re-election bid.

He said the stakeholders intend to “show that solidarity for Mr. President and tell the world that we're out to give the highest number of votes for Mr. President compared to all the six geopolitical zones in Nigeria”.

The meeting also resolved to undertake medical outreaches for the poor and vulnerable across selected parts of the zone, while a reconciliation committee will be constituted to address grievances among party members and strengthen unity ahead of the elections.

Yilwatda said the reconciliation initiative would help resolve outstanding differences and aggregate support across the zone, adding that the stakeholders would meet again next week to intensify mobilisation and preparations for the Lafia rally.

Earlier, the Grand Patron of the North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, CON, said the initiative was established to mobilise grassroots support across the zone towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in 2027.

The SGF said the mobilisation programme would revolve around three major activities: the North Central Grand Rally in Lafia on October 10; medical outreaches targeted at vulnerable citizens; and grassroots advocacy tours and town hall meetings across the 19 senatorial districts in the six North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory.

He explained that the medical intervention would provide services including comprehensive eye screening and treatment, refraction and prescription of spectacles, cataract assessment and selected surgical services where facilities are available, as well as glaucoma and diabetic eye screening.

Sen. Akume said the programme, coordinated by the National Coordinator, Arch. Sonny S.T. Echono, in collaboration with stakeholders across the zone, has the endorsement of the APC National Secretariat and is designed to deepen grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

At the meeting, Arch. Echono presented the work plan for mobilisation across the North-Central, while the Chairman of the Movement and Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, provided guidance on the priority areas of focus for the mobilisation and campaign activities.

Other dignitaries at the meeting included former Governor of Plateau State, Senator Simon Lalong; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; as well as other political leaders, government appointees and senior members of the APC from across the North-Central geopolitical zone.
