BUA Cement Nigeria Plc, on Wednesday graduates and awarded certificates to 60 youths from Sokoto state trained for six months on heavy duty machines operation.
52 of the graduants who are all from host communities, were given automatic employment at BUA cement Plc.
The initiative, which is a continuation of BUA's host community empowerment programme also involved monthly allowance of 150,000 for each of the 60 participants within the training period.
Addressing the 60 graduants, Sokoto state governor, Ahmed Aliyu represented by the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry commended BUA Cement Plc adding the private sector has a lot to contribute to job creation and reducing unemployment.
The governor further urged the graduated youths to see themselves as very privileged, hence the need to contribute their best to the development of BUA Cement Plc just as he advised them to always be of good behaviour and ambassadors of their respective families.
"Sokoto State Government is committed to creating ensuring an enabling enabling environment for businesses to thrive. And that will allow our youths and women reach their full potentials. The state will continue to encourage initiatives that promotes entrepreneurship, innovation and vocational training for sustained livelihoods".
In his vote of thanks BUA's Managing Director, Engr Yusuf Haliru Binji said the initiative was part of their numerous ways of placing priority on host community employability.
Engineer Binji who was represented by the Assistant Director, Admin and Corporate Affairs, Alhaji Sada Sulieman said the company is committed to empowering people, especially from host communities and states.
According to Engr. Binji, the event is not just to celebrate the graduation of the 6p youths but also an empowerment programme that gives hope as skills aqusisation remained one of the most effective in addressing unemployment, reduce poverty, and promote economic inclusivity".
Earlier, the chairman of Wamakko local government area, Sokoto, Hon. Umar Mohammed Dundaye said they cannot thank BUA Cement Plc enough for the numerous developmental projects both human, economical and educational being extended to the people of the state. NNL.
