- As Senator Wamakko Commends His Appointment

The Sultan of Sokoto and President General, Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, (NSCIA) Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, have turbaned a renowned philanthropist, Alhaji Murtala Abdulkadir Dan'Iya as the new Dallatun Sokoto alongside 12 others honoured with various traditional titles.
The event which took place at the Sultan's palace in Sokoto brought together Nigerians from across different walks of life to celebrate not only honour but the impactful lives of those turbaned.
Amongst prominent Nigerians that graced the occasion were different traditional rulers from far and near, Islamic scholars of international repute, captains of industries and various solidary groups who came to register their appreciation to Murtala Abdulkadir Dan'Iya, the new Dallatun Sokoto and others that were turbaned too.
Addressing those honoured with the prestigious traditional titles of the Sultanate Council, the Sultan of Sokoto insist that Nigerians must respect the traditional institutions as a pilar of promoting peace, unity, discipline and harmonious coexistence.
While noting that someone's contributions to humanity, peace and development are some of the basic considerable criteria for honouring people, Sultan however appealed to appealed to Dallatun Sokoto and others not to see traditional title as a mere symbol of honour and prestige, but a call to greater service.
Sultan who noted that to whom much is given, much is equally expected said the new recognition comes with enormous responsibilities, particularly in the areas of community service, moral leadership and the preservation of cultural heritage.
He further urged those turbaned to back their regalia of honour with dignity, adding leadership succesful leadership at all levels is known and appreciated by the leaders humility, compassion and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the masses without segregation.
Reacting to the development,
the Jarman Sokoto, Alhaji Dr. Umarun Kwabo AA, described the turbaning of Murtala Abdulkadir Dan'Iya as the new Dallatun Sokoto as a well-deserved recognition considering his numerous outstanding contributions to the advancement of humanity.
In his advise to the new Dallatun Sokoto, Alhaji Umarun Kwabo, Jarman Sokoto urged him to remain prayerful, and do his best for humanity without expecting anything in return, saying, Allah being the greatest rewarder will never forget all his good deeds.
Recall that the newly turbaned Dallatun Sokoto, Alhaji Murtala Abdulkadir Dan'Iya had previously in the line up of activities to celebrate his new honour paid various fines and secured the release of 56 less privileged inmates from the Sokoto State Correctional Services in addition to rendering free medical support to 500 indigent inmates at both Usmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital and the Sokoto State Specialists Hospital.
Meanwhile, former governor of Sokoto State and Senator representing Sokoto North Senatorial District, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko have commended Alhaji Murtala Dan'Iya over his coronation as the new Dallatun Sokoto.
Wamakko, in his message to Murtala Dan'Iya admitted that the honour was a well deserved one considering how impactful his life has been to the people of Sokoto and beyond.
The message as shared noted that the Senator further admonished the new Dallatun Sokoto not to relent in his gesture to the less privileged and humanity in general.
The message read in part, "His Excellency, Senator Dr. Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, Sarkin Yamma Sokoto, Sarkin Yakin Sokoto, and a prominent political leader in Sokoto State, extends his heartfelt congratulations to the newly appointed as Dallatun Sokoto, Alh. Murtala Abdulkadir Dan Iya, on his new traditional title.
"This new title comes with greater responsibility and an important duty to serve the people'.
While praying for the Murtala Abdulkadir Dan'Iya, the new Dallatun Sokoto, Senator Wamakko prayed that Almighty Allah grants him the wisdom, strength, and ability to carry out the responsibilities with fairness, honesty, and dedication.
Senator Wamakko further prayed to Almighty Allah to Dallatun Sokoto with good health and more blessings to be able to sustain his good works to humanity. NNL.
