Gombe State Governor and Chairman of the Northern Governors' Forum, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has received with heavy hearts, the news of the passing of a veteran journalist and former BBC Hausa Service correspondent, Alhaji Mato Adamu.
In a statement by the Director-General ( Press Affairs) Government House Gombe, Ismaila Uba Misilli, said Mato died in Gombe at age 60 after a brief illness.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya, in a message of condolence, extolled the accomplishments of the late Alhaji Mato, acknowledging his contributions to the realm of journalism, and his role in shaping public discourse through his journalistic endeavours.
Beyond his illustrious career with the BBC, Mato also had a stint in Gombe where he served as a media consultant to Governor Inuwa, during which he brought his vast expertise to bear on enhancing the communication strategies of the state government, leaving a lasting impact on information dissemination process.
Governor Yahaya expressed his heartfelt condolences to Alhaji Mato Adamu's family, friends, and colleagues in the media fraternity. He extended these condolences to the Dambam community and the people of Bauchi State, from where he hailed.
The Governor prayed the Almighty Allah to shower His divine mercy upon Alhaji Mato Adamu's soul, forgive his shortcomings and reward his positive deeds with Aljannat Firdaus. NNL.
