The Abuja Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Commission, EFCC, today July 12, 2021, arraigned a company, Glotech Resources Limited, before Justice E. Okpe of the FCT High Court, Apo, Abuja for an offense bordering on the issuance of a dud cheque.

The charge reads, ‘that you Glotech Resources Limited, sometime in 2019 in Abuja, within the Judicial Division of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory did obtain credit from one Usman A. Muhammed in the sum of N10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira) by means of a cheque which when presented within three months was returned on ground that there was no sufficient credit standing in the account for which the cheque was drawn and you thereby committed an offense contrary to Section 1(i)(b) of the Dishonored Cheques (Offences) Act, 2004 and punishable under Section 1 (i) (b) (ii) of the same Act.

Ugochukwu Okeke, a director of the company pleaded ‘not guilty, in writing, to the charge. However, the judge frowned that the plea was not written on the letterhead of the company.

Prosecution Counsel Mariya Ujudud Shariff thereafter requested a short date for commencement of trial. The court obliged the request and adjourned till July 16, 2021, for trial. NNL.
