The National President of Al-Mushahid Initiative for Transparency and Accountability (AITA), Ambassador Aminu Majidadi, has called upon the newly appointed Chief of Army Staff, Major General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede to confront the underlying factors fueling insurgency across Nigeria.
In a statement, Ambassador Majidadi emphasized that the relentless cycles of violence and insecurity affecting the nation demand a strategy that not only addresses symptoms but targets root causes.
Ambassador Majidadi highlighted that the social, economic, and ideological factors sustaining insurgency cannot be resolved through military force alone. He urged the new leadership to coordinate closely with other security agencies and engage with communities directly affected by insurgency.
Majidadi further called for a commitment to transparency and accountability in military operations, noting that these principles foster trust between security forces and citizens.
In his address, the AITA president commended the valor of Nigerian soldiers and stressed that, with comprehensive reform, Nigeria can overcome the insurgency. "The nation looks to our armed forces not just as protectors, but as partners in building a secure and unified Nigeria," he remarked. NNL.
