The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has warned officers and supervisory commanders in the Command to properly supervise their subordinates and ensure utmost professionalism and discipline in the discharge of their duties.
Giwa stressed that he would not take responsibility for the irresponsibility, stupidity or misconduct of any police officer, irrespective of rank.
The CP gave the warning during the Commissioner of Police's Monthly Strategic Conference with Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and heads of formations, tactical units, sections, and departments.
The Conference held on Thursday May 7, 2026, at the Senior Police Officers Mess, Agbani Road, Enugu.
During the Conference, the Commissioner of Police relayed key directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, issued at the recent IGP’s emergency conference with senior police officers nationwide, stressing professionalism, discipline, respect for human rights, intelligence-led policing, and responsible conduct in all engagements with the public.
CP Giwa warned that extortion, corruption, incivility, abuse of office, unlawful detention, and other misconduct would not be tolerated, adding that erring officers would face disciplinary actions in line with extant laws and police regulations.
According to the Command's Spokesman, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Commissioner further charged officers to remain committed to proactive policing and public safety in Enugu State. NNL.
