The Association of Former Female Athletes of Nigeria (AFFAN) is being threatened by leadership scandal as nine (9) founding members of the sports body petition Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) over alleged plot by the Acting President, Dr. (Mrs.) Esther Aluko, to falsely claim sole founding and ownership of the association.

Aluko allegedly made the claim after illegally altering the constitution to promote discriminations against some members ahead of planned election.

Aluko, according to the petitioners, amongst others actions, secretly and fraudulently connived with some insiders to alter the documents registering AFFAN with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) with the intent to achieve her plans to claim its sole ownership.

In a petition to the CAC dated 27th July, 2026, and a copy made available to NIGERIAN NEWSLEADER Correspondent, indicates that Esther Aluko did not only claim ownership of AFFAN but tampered with the constitution that was submitted to the CAC when it was registered with the intents of illegally replacing names of some Trustees to suit her plans.

The petition by, Air Commodore Rahinatu Garba (rtd) mni, on behalf of the aggrieved founding members said, "There has been illegal amendment of the AFFAN constitution without due process as stipulated in section 12 of AFFAN constitution with CAC and section 16.1 of the current AFFAN constitution".

Instead of promoting peace and unity amongst Nigeria's diverse ethnic nationalities by entrenching federal character, Aluko instead, chose to discriminate against fellow female athletes who are members by removing names of the northern and south-eastern members from the AFFAN board membership and replace them with her fellow westerners.

"The curent AFFAN acting leadership is circulating a purported updated Constitution that was never approved. Article 6. 1. 10, Article 6, 2, 9 and Article 6, 3, 9 of the purported illegal Constitution restricts the offices of President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President and Secretary General ONLY to former female athletes who represented Nigeria in any of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) recognized Sports", this policy according to the petitioners excluded Coaches, state athletes, para-athletes and grassroots women who make up over 90 percent of AFFAN.

While dissassociating themselves from Aluko and her cliques from what they termed, "Illegal Actions, Usurpation, Discriminations and Suppression of AFFAN members", the 9 founding members signatory to the petition advised all National Sports Federations, relevant sports bodies and the general public to disregard further claims or communications from any of the unauthorized trustees.

"AFFAN, CAC Reg. No: 125037, is an Incorporated Trustee owned by its members and governed by the Companies and Allied Matters Act 2020. It is NOT owned by any individual. We, the Concerned Founding and Financial Members of AFFAN, wish to state", adding that no single co-founder can or has the rights claim ownership of AFFAN.

That one individual is parading herself as the "FOUNDER" and claiming personal and absolute power to unilaterally remove, appoint trustees and amend the constitution, this claims and many more according to the aggrieved founders, is FALSE and UNLAWFUL, as no individual has such powers under CAMA 2020.

The leadership of AFFAN since inauguration, including Esther Aluko, the petitioners pointed out, have been on acting capacity and therefore wondered how somebody on acting capacity suddenly assumed powers to not only tamper with the constitution, appoint and/or direct state Coordinators to hand over to her trusted accomplices, but dictating what happens on the association's platform.

Air Commodore Rahinatu (rtd) and her group also pointed out that the current acting leadership is circulating a purported, "Updated Constitution" that was never approved, in accordance with Article 6.1.10, Article 6.2.8 and Article 6.3.9 of the purported illegal Constitution because the contents is found to be not only biased but promoting tribal and regional agenda.

To prevent member's knowing about her plans to take over AFFAN by force or through illegal means, "The current acting leadership by Esther Aluko BLOCKED the official AFFAN WhatsApp platform and restricted it to ADMIN ONLY to prevent members from discussing the illegalities and to silence dissent opinions".

"We hereby DISSOCIATE ourselves from all these actions by Esther Aluko and state that they are NULL, VOID AND OF NO EFFECT", and cautioned relevant sports authorities and the general public against further dealings with Esther Aluko as Acting President of AFFAN until further notice. NNL.
