A Nigeria-based anti-corruption group, SecureWorld and Liberty Initiative for Peace, SELIP, has petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to arrest and probe the immediate past Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, for allegedly using the establishment of a national carrier, Nigeria Air, to perpetrate fraud and commit economic sabotage.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has restated its commitment to upholding the fundamental human rights of citizens in fulfilling the mandate of the Commission. Senior officers of the Operations and the Legal and Prosecution Departments stated this at a joint one-day workshop, tagged "Enhancing the Synergy Between Operations and Legal and Prosecution Deprtments", which held on May 27, 2023, at Reiz Continental Hotel, Abuja.

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), has secured the conviction of one Mr. Muhammed Sani Nuhu, a former academic staff of Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, for conferring corrupt advantage on himself to the tune of Six Million, One Hundred and Seventy-Three Thousand, Four Hundred Naira (N6,173,400), belonging to the Polytechnic.
