The Senator-elect for Taraba South Senatorial District, David S.U Jimkuta, has been expelled by the executives of his local government chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for allegedly engaging in anti-party activities and tampering with the process of internal democracy of the party.
This was disclosed in his expulsion letter, which was signed on Friday April 7, 2023 by 27 members of the state executives and made available to newsman on Saturday.
Rising from its meeting on Friday, the excos of Takum Local Government Area, stated that they had reviewed, among other things, the report of the disciplinary committee before taking the decision to expel Jimkuta.
The APC's letter reads thus: “The Takum Local Government Area Executive Committee of our great Party after due deliberation of the report of the Disciplinary Committee set up to investigate allegations of gross anti-party activities against Hon. Jimkuta S.U. David as provided under Article 21(B) (i) - (vi) of the All Progressives Congress Constitution (2022 as Amended) has ratified and approved his expulsion from the party as recommended by the Disciplinary Committee”.
“The anti-party activities forming the bases for this action includes; Sponsorship and openly campaigning for a rival political party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State and its Governorship candidate.
"Secondly express and tacit denunciation of the All Progressives Congress and its Governorship candidate.
"Thirdly Open canvassing of votes for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and its Govenorship candidate.
"The excos, having deliberated on the report of the Disciplinary Committee and evidence in support of their claim and the report of the Committee, ratified and approved in its entirety for the expulsion of Jimkuta". NNL.
